To the delight of many followers, Mayim Bialik and her lover Jonathan Cohen take pleasure in blogging about their lives on social media. However, a recent development in their relationship perplexed a lot of people because they assumed it had anything to do with someone else.
Mayim demonstrated how to play “Hit the Penny,” one of her all-time favorite childhood games, for Jonathan in a video that was uploaded to the Big Bang Theory star’s Instagram. She set a penny on the ground and instructed them to bounce a ball off each other while striking the penny. The game was won by the person who got the penny past the imaginary line in front of them first.

She captioned the video on April 19 with, “You asked for it, so here it is. Today I’m teaching Jonathan ‘Hit the Penny,’ one of my all-time favorite games from my youth. Many of you wanted to know how to play after I mentioned it in our most recent @bialikbreakdown show with Max Greenfield @iammaxgreenfield. Enjoy!”
While the Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast co-star and Jeopardy! host’s followers enjoyed seeing them in a different setting, some pointed out that they mistook the “penny” reference for a reference to Kaley Cuoco’s character Penny.
One person commented on the Instagram post, “I thought it was the Penny from [The Big Bang Theory],” in the comments area. “Playing this game is so ‘Amy’. Love it,” a separate fan chimed in in reference to her on-screen persona Amy Farrah Fowler. Funny, I thought you were going to kick Penny with the ball! Another follower retorted, “Penny! Penny #tbbt.
Before a winner was announced in the competition, the snippet ended. Fans, however, appreciate seeing Mayim and Jonathan together outside of the podcast studio because of their love of spontaneity.
Now, if she can only convince Kaley to play “Hit the Penny,” that will be a game worth watching.
